Let me just make one point clear, I am NOT a graphic designer...no way, no how. I am a photographer and a videographer, and at times, a web developer. The original Earl Studios logo is something that I created when the company first came about and was mean to be a creative way of showing both the E and the S in Earl Studios, and to be honest, it was a great logo...for someone that doesn't do logo design.
With the incredible success that Earl Studios has had over the last year as well as the growth of the company into video production it was clear that this was the time to evolve the logo and the Earl Studios brand, so I started looking around for designers to work with on a new logo for the company. I contacted some great companies and designers, but unfortunately most of them were out of my budget for this project, because, we are after all, a company of one.
After a long search I connected with an incredible designer who had a previous logo design that we were able to modify to meet the needs of Earl Studios and I purchased the full rights to the final image, to be later trademarked as the new Earl Studios logo.
The new logo is perfect because it speaks to the many faces of Earl Studios. We are primarily a food focused photography and videography company, but we have expanded to include educational, college, and university clients as well, and the new logo needed to speak to that expanding brand. Plus, Earl Studios is FUN! We are a fun company to work with, and so some of that irreverence and wit needed to be communicated through the logo as well.
Its a big step, no doubt, and we are taking a risk. But with any decision of this size, I of course consulted my top people...my mom and my best friend, and after getting their thumbs up, we went ahead.
There are more changes in store going forward, especially to the look of the website, to get it visually in line with the new logo and branding.
